Last Friday, I did something a little different.
I went on a blind date.
A business blind date.
And honestly? It was one of my favorite things I’ve done since moving to Florida. I’ve been really intentional about building relationships locally. I shared more about what that looked like in my first month in this post on building community as a Florida business owner.
As branding photographers, we spend so much time thinking about visibility, content, and algorithms. But this experience was a reminder that in-person networking for branding photographers still plays a powerful role in how relationships (and bookings) actually happen.
How a Simple Walk Turned Into Meaningful Connection
A few weeks ago, I came across something called WlthWalks.

WlthWalks is a small, curated walking experience for entrepreneurs. No big crowds. No awkward name tags. Just two to three business owners meeting up for a walk.
That felt very much my speed.
I love meeting local entrepreneurs, and walking is where my best ideas tend to happen.
So I signed up.
Three days later, I was paired with two other business owners, and we met in downtown Orlando.
We walked about two miles. We talked about what we’re building. Shared referrals. Swapped local recommendations.
All while moving (WIN 🏃🏽♀️).
Here’s my quick selfie with two Florida business owners I met through WlthWlks. One runs a business development company, and the other owns a dog training business. Both are incredible women doing really cool things. 👇🏽

The best thing is because we weren’t sitting across a table trying to “network”, the conversation just felt natural. Easy. Just human.
By the end of it, we’d already planned another meetup.
Why In-Person Networking Still Works for Branding Photographers
Driving home, I kept thinking about how simple (and powerful) that experience was.
If you’ve been wondering how branding photographers get clients without relying solely on social media, this is a big piece of the puzzle.
Here’s what stood out:
Small groups can be just as powerful as big rooms
There’s a common belief that networking has to look a certain way to “count.”
Big events. Crowded rooms. Bold energy.
But what I’ve noticed, over and over again, is that smaller settings often create a deeper impact.
I’ve seen it firsthand. When branding photographers have a real community, confidence grows, referrals happen naturally, and growth stops feeling so heavy.

What’s even better when you’re in a small group is that you’re not competing for attention. You’re not rushing through conversations or mentally scanning the room for who you should talk to next.
You actually get to be present.
And presence builds trust faster than any elevator pitch ever could.
For ‘us’ branding photographers, especially, trust is everything.
People don’t just hire us for photos. They hire us because they feel comfortable, understood, and confident with us behind the camera.
Small rooms create space for that kind of connection. And I’m thankful to WlthWalks for creating a room where connection didn’t feel forced. It just happened.
Movement makes conversation easier
There’s something about walking side by side that changes the dynamic completely.
When you’re moving, the pressure drops. The conversation doesn’t feel performative or forced. Pauses feel natural. Ideas come up organically.
You’re not staring at each other across a table trying to impress or prove anything.
You’re just talking.
Some of the best insights I’ve had about business, creativity, and next steps have come while walking. And that showed up here, too.
We talked about what we’re building, what’s been challenging, and what’s exciting. All without it ever feeling like “networking.”
If what you want doesn’t exist, you can create it
This experience also reminded me of something I believe deeply.
If the kind of connection you’re craving doesn’t exist yet, you don’t have to wait for permission to create it.
The most meaningful networking moments often aren’t formal events. They’re intentional choices.
A walk. Coffee in hand. A small gathering. An invitation to connect without an agenda.
You don’t need a massive platform to build relationships that support your business. You just need to be willing to initiate something simple and genuine.
That’s relationship marketing for photographers in its most natural form.
Skip the pitch. Drop the proving. Feel no pressure.
Just showing up as a real person behind the brand.
Local Networking Builds More Than Visibility
There’s something special about local networking for branding photographers, especially when you’re building a business rooted in connection.
When people know you, trust you, and understand what you do, referrals happen organically. Opportunities come from conversations, not content calendars.
That’s something no algorithm can replicate.
Let’s Create a Space for Real Connection!
That’s also why I love hosting co-working days for branding photographers here in Florida.
A simple space to work, connect, and be in the same room together.
No pressure. No posing. Just community and focus.
If you’re craving more in-person connection this season, consider this your reminder:
You don’t need a huge audience to grow. You need the right relationships.
