hey!

If you’re a photographer, you know that there’s always more to learn. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced pro, there are certain things that you only learn through trial and error. In this post, we’re going to share 7 things I wish I knew sooner as a photographer.

1. The camera is only as good as the photographer: It’s easy to get caught up in buying the latest and greatest camera equipment, but the truth is that the camera is just a tool! It’s up to you to master your camera in manual mode and use it to capture beautiful images.

2. Light is the most important aspect: Good lighting can make or break a photo. Take the time to learn how to work with natural light, use reflectors, and master off-camera lighting!

3. Get it right IN CAMERA: While editing can certainly enhance your photos, it’s important to get as much right in camera as possible. This means paying attention to things like exposure, white balance, and composition.

4. Master your editing and create your own preset: Editing is an essential part of the photography process. Take the time to learn how to use editing software like Lightroom or Photoshop, and experiment with creating your own presets to speed up your workflow.

5. Build a portfolio you’re proud of: Your portfolio is your calling card as a photographer. Take the time to curate a selection of your best work and showcase it on your website or social media.

6. Invest in education: Photography is a constantly evolving field, and there’s always more to learn. Whether it’s attending workshops or taking online courses, investing in your education can help you stay ahead of the curve.

7. Stay inspired, creative, and passionate: Photography is a passion for many people, and it’s important to keep that passion alive. Stay inspired by other photographers, try new techniques, and keep pushing yourself to create beautiful images.

These are just a few of the things I wish I knew sooner as a photographer. While it’s impossible to know everything right from the start, taking the time to learn and grow can help you develop your skills and take your photography to the next level!

So keep shooting, keep learning, and most importantly, keep having fun!
